Welcome to Department of Business Administration
The Department is one of the five departments in the College of Social and Management Sciences. Proposal for the establishment of the Department was approved on 6th May 2011. The formal establishment of the department and commencement of B.Sc. Business Administration started during the 2013/2014 Academic session. The post-graduate programme came into being in 2018/2019 session after approval was given by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and academic activities commenced in 2019 session. Both programmes i.e undergraduate and post graduate were designed to comply with the National Universities Commission (NUC) Benchmark Minimum Academic Standard (BMAS).

The vision of the Department is to become the best centre for training business managers and integrate sound Islamic values with modern knowledge seamlessly.
MISSION
The mission of the Department is to provide quality training throuth teaching and research under the most convenient and conducive atmosphere.
PROGRAMMES AND THEIR ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Admin. | 4 years | At least five credit passes including English Language, Mathematics and three in relevant subjects obtained in not more than two sitting in the General Certificate of Education (GCE), Senior Secondry School Certificate Examination (SSCE), National Examination Council (NECO), or their equivalents. A candidate should also have acceptable points in both the Unified Tertiary Matriculations Examination (UTME) and post UTME screening. |
2 | PhD Bus. Admin. | 3 years | A candidate who seeks admission into the degree of Doctor of Philosophy Programme must hold an Academic Masters degree of Al-Qalam University or any other recognized University. The CGPA of the Masters Programme should be at least 3.50 on a scale of 0.00 to 5.00. A PhD candidate who satisfies all admission requirements except the CGPA can be considered for admission into MPhil/PhD provided the CGPA is at least 3.00. |
3 | MPhil/PhD | 1 year | A candidate must have BSc. Degree and commercial masters degree in relevant discipline and have all the ‘O’ level requirements from GCE, SSCE or NECO examination with credit pass in English Language and Mathematics plus three other credits in relevant subjects. |
4 | MSc. Bus. Admin. | 2 years | A candidate seeking admission into the Regular/Academic Masters Degree Programme must hold: 1. A minimum of Second Class (lower Division) degree with a CGPA not below 2.75 on the scale of 0.00 – 5.00 of Al-Qalam University, or any other recognized University provided the University matriculation requirements are satisfied. 2. A minimum of Second Class Lower Division with a CGPA of 2.40-2.74 on a scale of 0.00 – 5.00 of Al-Qalam University Katsina or any recognized University plus a Postgraduate Diploma with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 (Merit) on a scale of 0.00- 5.00 provided the University matriculation requirements are satisfied. 3. A minimum of third Class degree plus a good Postgraduate Diploma at credit level from Al-Qalam University Katsina and a minimum CGPA of 3.50 from any other recognized University provided the University matriculation requirements are satisfied. 4. A Postgraduate Diploma from a recognized University with a minimum of CGPA of Upper Credit from any recognized institution. |
5 | MBA | 1 year | Professional Master Degree Programme. A candidate seeking admission into a professional Masters degree programme must hold: A minimum of Second Class Lower degree in the relevant area from Al-Qalam University Katsina or any other recognized University. A good Postgraduate Diploma in relevant areas not below classification of Merit from Al-Qalam University Katsina or any other recognized University provided the conditions prescribed under the Postgraduate Diploma Programmes are satisfied. A minimum of Second Class Upper Division degree in a non related area plus relevant professional qualifications obtained after passing a qualifying examination. |
6 | Special MBA | 2 years | A candidate with BSc. degree in any discipline other than BSc. Bus. Admin., Accounting and Economics, with ‘O’ level requirements i.e 5 credits in GCE, SSCE, NECO which must include English Language and Mathematics plus three other relevant credits in not more than two sittings. |
