Dean SPS

Welcome Message 

The School of Postgraduate Studies (SPS) was established in 2015 as an organ of Al-Qalam University Katsina (AUK) charged with the responsibility of promoting, supervising, coordinating and regulating postgraduate studies in the University. Postgraduate programmes in the University are designed in line with the main objective of postgraduate education in the Nigerian University System, that is to further develop the spirit of enquiry in postgraduate students through training in research in an atmosphere of intellectual independence and individual creativity, combined with a strong sense of team work. 

The Postgraduate School is under the office of the Vice Chancellor it is managed by a Dean, Sub-dean and Secretary. The Pioneer Dean was Prof. Shehu Usman Rano he was succeeded by Prof. Mansur Kiyawa in 2016/2017 session, followed by Dr. A.K. Yusuf in 2018/2020. Currently, the School is under the Deanship of Assoc. Prof. Musa Salisu.

The School has its General Regulations Governing Postgraduate Studies similar to what obtains in our Nigerian Universities within the frame work of the regulations provided by the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC).  Students are advised to abide by all regulations stated in the general regulation Governing Postgraduate Studies. Full registration at the beginning of each academic session is compulsory, and failure to register shall deny the student privilege and rights of a Postgraduate Student.

A minimum of 2nd class lower degree or a minimum of 2nd class upper degree in a non-related with a good postgraduate diploma in relevant area. or professional qualification

Masters (Academic)


2years 
A degree with a CGPA not below 2.75/5.00 in the relevant area or 3rd class degree plus a postgraduate diploma with minimum CGPA of 3.00/5.00

Ph.D

Academic Masters in relevant area with CGPA of at least 3.50/5.00

MPhil

1year
MPhil candidate must satisfies all admission requirement for Ph.D plus a CGPA of 3.00/50.00
